Interview Rêve de Gosse - a Parisian boutique more than a little special!

After generating buzz with a few pop-up shops in Paris, Rêve is opening a boutique. It's the former premises of a tailor in the Marais district, which he affectionately calls "the shop." The ground floor is filled with wonderful finds and creations, complemented by an old bar where vinyl records from the 40s to the 60s still spin; the journey back in time is almost instantaneous.

Dream idolizes wear and tear, weathered, patched-up clothes; he loves stories, and it is these clothes that whisper many of them in his ear. Climbing to the second floor by a small spiral staircase, one finds a cascade of
Riding boots; then, once you reach the top, several worlds unfold before you. First, a small room filled with rolls of antique fabrics, and not just any old fabrics. In another room, costumes are displayed. Here, the racks are somewhat paradoxical: costumes belonging to Giscard d'Estaing and those of plowmen stand side by side. The shop even has a moral: treat the servant like the prince and the prince like the servant. In other rooms, you'll find more clothes and objects that have been found at flea markets, as well as a few stray rolls of fabric. Some corners of the shop are still a bit cluttered; only the most discerning and enthusiastic collectors will venture there.

Rêve doesn't define himself as a merchant; his shop is his hobby, and he lives only for his passion. The shop is neither a thrift store, nor a ready-to-wear boutique, nor a tailor, but rather a delightful blend of three trades: antique clothing dealer, seller of vintage fabrics, and locally made-to-order creations of iconic French wardrobe pieces. More than a shop, Rêve calls it "the workshop shop." Here, they sell everything, and they can do just about anything. If an old pea coat doesn't fit, Rêve will make you a copy in the fabric of your choice and can even embellish and adorn it in his own style.
(Or to yours). His coffee sack jacket is sold out; bring your sack, and you'll get a jacket! At the shop, they create new things by drawing inspiration from the old, using vintage fabrics: it makes sense. And even if you leave empty-handed, your head will still be full. Rêve works with passion, and it shows. From style to the most subtle tailoring details, not to mention countless anecdotes about just about anything and everything, Rêve has a lot to share, always with the greatest joie de vivre.

We met Rêve during the shooting of our SS23 collection for which he had lent us some of his creations.

Rêve tells us, “Bourrienne doesn’t evoke a brand for me, but a spirit, an era brought back to life, a man who served Napoleon, the white of ermine or poplin. The shirt, of course, white because it’s the only one worn by people of honor and hard work. An immaculate white that life sometimes scratches or stains, like those 19th-century duels. Classic, timeless, immaculate—that’s the Bourrienne spirit.”

Our shirts worn by Rêve de gosse

Our atelier shirt: worn with a vest, its length is accentuated. Rêve told us: "I'll wear it every day during the summer in Greece." A beautiful, statement piece to showcase.

Our Napoleon shirt: inspired by the last shirt worn by the emperor. It's a unisex, one-size-fits-all shirt; its relaxed fit and dropped shoulders make it suitable for almost anyone.
