Roots and Wings: Bourrienne Paris X at the heart of flax excellence

We are proud to share the appearance of Bourrienne Paris X in the prestigious report "Des Racines et des Ailes" on France 3. Dedicated to the " terroirs of excellence " between Lille and Bruges, the report highlighted one of the pillars of our identity: linen and the craftsmanship that gives life to our shirts.

The Linen Heritage: A Family Story

Our artistic director, Cécile Faucheur , took the France 3 teams to our linen factory, located near Kortrijk, where our exceptional fabrics are born.

Cécile shares her sources of inspiration with us:

"I have a grandfather who owned a flax mill in the North of France and I am delighted to be able to bring this heritage into my creations."

It is this transmission and this attachment to the fiber that gives its soul to the linen shirts of Bourrienne Paris X.

From thread to fabric: The quest for perfection

At Bourrienne, linen is chosen for its strength, its natural, raw look, and its vibrant character. Cécile Faucheur connects with the feel of the fabric. She instinctively envisions summer shirts in linen, both loose-fitting and sophisticated.

White is always the starting point of creation , reflecting the pure fabric. It is from this base that the final appearance is defined, before considering, if necessary, a variation in colors.

In the workshop, each meter of this natural fiber is woven with remarkable precision and subjected to rigorous quality control. This is where the full value of human expertise is revealed.

  • Meticulous handwork : At the slightest defect, the expert hands of the workshop intervene to resume the weaving by hand, delicately repairing the fabric, a know-how that cannot be automated.
  • Passing on expertise : This know-how requires extensive experience and is passed down from generation to generation. A new craftsman learns alongside a veteran for months to perfect their technique.

A Bourrienne Paris X shirt: 4.5 hours of craftsmanship

The report also illustrated the journey, showing six months after the fabric was made, the shirts coming to life during a photo shoot at the Hôtel de Bourrienne.

Each Bourrienne Paris X piece is more than just a garment: it's a reinterpretation of period details in modern cuts. The inspiration is drawn from the rich history of the Hôtel de Bourrienne, with its Directoire-style décor. These historical references are incorporated into the shirts, notably through the embroidery, crafted in Northern France, and the hand-pleated bibs, also made in Northern France.

While a standard shirt from the textile industry requires approximately 55 minutes of work, a Bourrienne Paris X shirt is the result of a much more meticulous process and can take up to 4.5 hours to make in our workshop . This is the case, for example, with the COMÉDIEN , DIVINE , and IMPÉRATRICE shirts. It is the price of excellence, durability, and heritage that we wish to offer you.

"It's a living material. When you look at it, you can feel that it already has a history, a soul. That's what we try to convey through the creation of our shirts."

- Cécile Faucheur, creator of Bourrienne Paris X
