Bourrienne Paris X is participating in the Prix Bourrienne

For its first edition, the Prix Bourrienne has awarded Laurent Tillon for his third essay, "Les Fantômes de la nuit, des chauves-souris et des hommes," published by Éditions Actes Sud. On this occasion, Bourrienne Paris X had the pleasure of presenting a shirt to the winner, celebrating knowledge and innovation.

Prix Bourrienne

The Prix Bourrienne thus honors a scientific popularization work that enlightens readers in the field of science. His storytelling talents, unique voice, and sense of poetry particularly impressed the members of the Prix Bourrienne jury.

The Book: Laurent Tillon immerses us in a world both familiar and strange, revealing the fascinating story of bats. We marvel at their incredible flying abilities, the secrets of their exceptional longevity, and their resistance to viruses. We are captivated by their rich and cooperative social lives, and we are amused by their effortless evasion of the author's attempts to study them, teasingly flying just out of reach. Laurent Tillon also warns us about the threats they face. This little-known mammal, one of the most beneficial to nature, is a victim of ecological decisions that risk causing the very disruptions they aim to prevent.

Laurent Tillon is the biodiversity manager at the National Forest Office, responsible for wildlife inventories and a specialist in bats. In 2021, he published "Être un chêne" in the "Mondes sauvages" collection (Actes Sud).
