Meeting with Maison Duvelleroy, creator of handcrafted fans

The "One craftsman, one shirt" project continues with the wonderful meeting of Maison Duvelleroy, a Parisian fan house founded in 1827 and relaunched in 2010, whose fans are handcrafted in France. They draw their inspiration from two centuries of history, and find their meaning in the spirit of the times.

Tell us about your Maison's business in a few words?

Our job is to bring the fan to life in the 21st century and, beyond the object, the art of living that is attached to it. Look at the archives with a contemporary eye to design fans and objects that make sense in 2022...

What were the different stages of this Bourrienne fan collaboration?

It all starts with a meeting of women entrepreneurs: Carine and Eléonore introduced us to the Bourrienne house.
We then visited this crazy place that is Madame Fortunée Hamelin's hotel and chose decorative motifs that she had had her draw under the Directory: birds from the islands, foliage and peacock feathers...
We then shaped these elements into a composition in the shape of a sun.

What inspires you about the Bourrienne Paris X brand?

The Parisian and joyful inspiration of a woman of taste, the apparent simplicity of the cuts, very timeless, the attention to detail and the requirement of know-how.

From this encounter was born our MANDALA fan

The Bourrienne Paris X fan, in collaboration with the know-how of Maison Duvelleroy, is inspired by the designs of the Hôtel de Bourrienne....
