From 1792 onwards, it was inhabited by Fortunée Hamelin, who transformed the hôtel into a hub of high society receptions frequented by figures such as Bonaparte, Joséphine de Beauharnais, and Madame Tallien. Nicknamed "Les Petites Tuileries" (The Little Tuileries), the Hôtel de Bourrienne became the second court of the era, animated by both heated debates and lavish receptions.
A muse of the Merveilleuses fashion movement, Fortunée captivated with her beauty, free spirit, and avant-garde style.
After the splendor of the Directory, the Hôtel de Bourrienne had several lives. It was notably acquired by Louis Fauvelet de Bourrienne, Napoleon Bonaparte's private secretary, who gave it his name and helped perpetuate the history of this Parisian residence.
Over the centuries, the hotel has spanned eras while preserving its unique character: its decorated salons, wood paneling, and decor still bear witness today to the elegance and artistic effervescence that animated Paris at the end of the 18th century.
In 2016, Carine and Charles Beigbeder acquired the Hôtel de Bourrienne with the ambition of transforming it into a vibrant place, open to creation and contemporary initiatives. From this exceptional heritage, a new impetus was born.
It is in this historically rich setting that Cécile Faucheur designs the collections of Bourrienne Paris X. Inspired by the architecture and details of the Hôtel de Bourrienne—the moldings, wood paneling, paintings, and ornaments—she reinterprets them to create embroideries, trimmings, and signature details that tell a story of dialogue between past and present.
Each collection thus draws from the spirit of the place: a free elegance, a taste for detail, and a certain idea of the French art of living.
The reception rooms of the Hôtel de Bourrienne also host the House's events during Fashion Weeks, bringing back to life, for an evening, the effervescence and extravagance of the Directory period.
Hidden behind the Bourrienne Paris X boutique, the Hôtel de Bourrienne remains a place preserved from the Parisian hustle and bustle.
Usually closed to the public, it reveals itself to those who cross the Maison's doors.
