Winter Materials: the fabrics that make up our Autumn-Winter 2026 collection

For its Fall-Winter 2026 collection "Ateliers d'Hiver" (Winter Workshops), Bourrienne Paris X explores winter materials that convey the atmosphere of a workshop in the cold season. Cotton flannel, linen and wool, denim, or two-ply cotton poplin: each fabric has been chosen to evoke the Northern landscapes that inspired Nicolas de Staël and this collection, while offering a new expression of the shirt.

Beyond their aesthetic, these materials address an essential requirement of the winter wardrobe: finding fabrics capable of providing comfort, warmth, and elegance, without ever compromising freedom of movement.

Grey flannel, the softness of winter

Flannel makes its debut in the Bourrienne wardrobe with an interpretation faithful to the Maison's universe. Woven from cotton, it retains the precision of a true shirting fabric while offering a particularly soft touch.

Lightweight, warm, and comfortable, it naturally accompanies winter days without ever weighing down the silhouette. Its deep grey recalls the Northern skies that permeate Nicolas de Staël's works, bringing new depth to the Maison's iconic pieces.

Linen and wool, like a canvas before the first stroke

For this collection, Bourrienne introduces a new fabric composed of 70% linen and 30% wool.

Its naturally textured appearance evokes the surface of a painter's canvas before the first brushstroke. The linen retains its visual freshness and lively character, while the wool provides warmth, softness, and structure, making this material an ideal ally for winter.

Featured in several silhouettes of the collection, it complements the generous volumes of artist's shirts and highlights their natural elegance.

Denim inspired by workshop attire

Denim holds a special place in the "Ateliers d'Hiver" collection. Inspired by traditional workwear worn in workshops, it is reinterpreted here in a softer and more refined version.

The blend of cotton, linen, and viscose brings fluidity to the material while retaining the depth and character specific to denim. Its slightly irregular texture gives it a subtle relief, while its fresh feel naturally accompanies everyday wear.

A way to reinterpret the heritage of workwear with Bourrienne's characteristic elegance.

A stripe inspired by Nicolas de Staël's landscapes

Developed exclusively for Bourrienne Paris X by our Italian weaver, this season's stripe features the blues and greys that traverse the Northern landscapes dear to Nicolas de Staël.

Made from two-ply cotton poplin, it reveals a subtle depth of color and a delicate play of light that discreetly animates the fabric's surface. Both graphic and timeless, it brings a new expression to several iconic shirts of the Maison.

A wardrobe guided by material

At Bourrienne Paris X, a collection always begins with a story. For "Ateliers d'Hiver", this story originates in the Northern landscapes painted by Nicolas de Staël: their grey skies, deep blues, and mineral nuances. More than colors, it is the sensation they evoke that guides this collection: a cold light, softened by the warmth of natural materials.

Inspired by this, the Maison has selected four fabrics that set the tone for the season. Each possesses its own personality, touch, and character, but all share the same requirement: to accompany movement with elegance.

The Fall-Winter 2026 Collection

Which materials to choose for winter?

Which material is the warmest in winter?

Wool is often considered one of the warmest materials due to its natural insulating properties. Other fabrics like flannel or dense natural fiber fabrics also offer excellent thermal comfort.

Which material is not warm in winter?

Thin and light materials, designed for warm seasons, generally offer less protection against the cold when worn alone. However, the choice of weave and thickness remains essential.

Does cotton keep you warm in winter?

Yes, a dense cotton or one treated like flannel or two-ply poplin can perfectly complement a winter wardrobe. Its ability to provide comfort and structure primarily depends on the quality of the fabric.
