SHIRT STORIES

"SHIRT STORIES"
THE ESSENTIAL LINE

When an adventurer turned entrepreneur meets a criminal lawyer seeking light in our shadowed zones... When a collector in search of simplicity meets an entrepreneur in search of adventure... We return to THE ESSENTIAL in a series of short videos that speak to each of us.

SHIRT STORIES offers a fresh perspective on these life essentials, through the stories of Jean d’Arthuys, Pierre-Olivier Sur, Axel Dauchez, Sébastien Aguettant, and Bruno Ledoux. Universal and authentic stories that resonate with us in their reflections on time, nature, simplicity, love, and friendship.

CROSS PORTRAITS

5 portraits of men wearing a white classic shirts.
What do these five personalities have in common?
Singularity, Creativity, Simplicity, Authenticity: portraits of men who, at a pivotal stage in life, take the time to reflect on a few simple and universal questions. Discover their philosophy of life in five inspiring testimonies, reflections of their passions and their will to truly live.
Through their unique journeys, they revisit what constitutes their ESSENTIALS. We discover that, fundamentally, they all share a need to refocus on the strength of human bonds (love and friendship, which ultimately are quite similar), a humility before a nature more powerful than ourselves, a need for simplicity and pause in a consumer-driven society that constantly erodes our freedom, and above all, a desire to stop time, to master it.

Bruno wears Numéro I

For Bruno Ledoux, a great collector and history enthusiast, "what is Essential is what disrupts the established order." While historians often analyze events and their sequence, what interests him most is "human nature, how individuals, with their character and flaws, shape history, how the entire world can be upended by their actions." For this great collector, who accumulates for his collections, "traveling is a form of liberation, a way to break free from an oppressive social environment, a kind of 'rebirth'." He strongly feels the need for simplicity, to free himself "from packed suitcases, which in reality, are fears."

Pierre-Oliver wears Numéro III.

For Pierre-Olivier Sur, a renowned criminal lawyer, the Essential is "to seek the light within the darkness of every person." The essence of his practice is "to reflect on that precise moment when an action is determined, what he calls the 'fraction of a second'." The essence of his life as a man is "the crystal placed above everything else, the superfluous, the fleeting wind, the light, everything that is not essential... and trust, of course."

Sébastien wears Numéro V

For Sébastien Aguettant, a leading entrepreneur and passionate advocate for collective victories in both professional and sports environments, the Essential is "a mix of seriousness and freedom, saying serious things in a lighthearted way." It is also "leading teams of men and women beyond their limits to achieve something that seems complicated, difficult, and sometimes even unattainable." The power of collective success in entrepreneurship.

For Jean d’Arthuys, a great adventurer, "there are fundamentally two tragedies in a man’s life: not achieving one’s dreams and achieving them." Having realized two of his youthful passions—sailing around the world without assistance and owning a vineyard—his Essential is "the projects and dreams that keep us alive, help us survive, and move forward, especially when facing raw and hostile nature alone." He also reflects on fears: "There is no reason to be afraid, and it seems essential to rid oneself of life’s anxieties that consume the mind all day." Above all, he emphasizes Friendship, which he sees as indispensable in his life: "Friendship is a Love that lasts."

Axel wears Numéro VI
For Axel Dauchez, an entrepreneur fighting for major societal causes at Make.org, "the true density of life lies in the connections we build with others." For him, "true freedom is the ability to choose the commitments that restrict freedom." At the heart of his journey, there are two Essentials: "combining freedom with life and engagement."
These personal, profound, and sincere interviews invite us to ask ourselves the same questions, to slow down and reflect on our own life Essentials.
Finally, all five of them shared their perception of fashion, of a certain French art of living, and how a Bourrienne shirt—crafted with attention to detail, passion, and authenticity—can bring them a discreet strength in their everyday lives, a confidence to face daily challenges, an understated elegance that is subtle and never ostentatious.
